A Miami native of Cuban descent, Michael Halley is a self-taught artist and musician. After having learned to play guitar at a young age, Michael taught himself to paint by studying the works and techniques of other artists. Upon graduating from the University of Florida, where he earned a Bachelors of Civil Engineering, Michael continued his artistic studies and honed his skills while living in Spain for a time.
By the time Michael returned to Miami, what began as a hobby had turned into a passion as he began to take his artistic pursuits more seriously, going from occasionally creating works of art as gifts or for his own home to the point where it became something of a second career to him. Since then, Michael has branched out to a variety of other mediums, including photography, mosaic work, digital art, and mural design.
Michael's background as a professional engineer clearly influences the way he sees the world, and it shows through his art. His passion for building and creating things, and for witnessing his ideas and visions come to life, is evident throughout his artistic portfolio. Further contributing to the diversity of Michael's artistic portfolio is the fact that he has always had a strong interest in and appreciation of the science behind art, seeking to constantly grow his understanding of, and develop new insights into, the creative process. Michael continues to develop and expand his portfolio today, and a broader collection of his work can be viewed on his website, mhalleyart.com.
